Just don’t lose the desperate and cringey fake laughter. Stay gold pony boy, stay gold

I can understand why someone would do this in their own self interest, but also hate it even though I realize it is not his responsibility to lead any sort of movement on resistance against a rising authoritarian power. Essentially to me this for sure means the government is intimidating media companies and affiliated personalities into doing as they want or be attacked for criticizing them. They may or may not be directly breaking the first amendment legally, but essentially this to me is indirect censorship. During a time when the country needs to fight back against such evils it is sad to basically see almost every celebrity and company and person of power folding so fast.

And it’s not like these people are even doing anything dangerous. They’re just making jokes about government officials or MAGA… So much for comedy being legal again though ig. MAGA was crying censorship when people were just asking people to not disrespect others rudely and not spread dangerous medical misinformation killing others. Now that a government power is actively intimidating the country into silence it is suddenly okay though for them to do that and totally the same thing.

Following the Trump directive, “Behave yourself and nobody gets hurt”.

Shitty alcoholic boss will continue the hard work of doing hack jokes and delivering laughs by the barrel full for guests who aren’t funny

    5. That’s his brand, I don’t see the issue – if he doesn’t want to touch politics then he shouldn’t need to.

Meyers does it plenty for the both of them anyway.  Actually, I’m surprised Seth isn’t under heat, I think he has been attacking Trump every night for the past 8 years.

Its ok if if a TV guy wants to avoid politics. Makes for better content.

How this man still has a show and gets work I don’t know. He has zero charm and giggles at every other word.

    8. Fallon has always been a bitch. He’s like a small dog that pees on the floor the moment the front door opens.

Or he could at least still make fun of the stupid and bad things that no one disputes are true. Awareness in the form of comedy is still awareness, people *might* look up the details if they hear about what’s going on.

    10. This is the very definition of the theft of free speech. Executive intimidation that turns citizens into submissive, timid cowards.

its one thing to say “as a comedian my job is to be funny and ive never been funny with political material so im not going to start now.”

But fallon isnt funny doing what hes doing soooo whats holding you back buddy?

    12. God, bro. Just to be COMPLETELY clear, WE ALL GET IT.

And in full understanding of your motivations and the practicality of your choices…. Your decision is still so far along the spectrum leading from respectful towards feckless that your conduct is still borderline objectively repugnant.

Everyone won’t hate you. But those that don’t will never appreciate or respect you. But I guess everyone else was right. Maybe it’s not a problem for you if your only concern is if they pay you or not. There’s a word for that…

What’s the difference between 99% of the population and Jimmy Fallon?

99% of the population can get through a Jimmy Fallon monologue without laughing.

That’s why he drinks himself to sleep every night, he’s an obsequious fence riding coward and he very much helped normalize Trump in 2015 along with SNL

    15. Jimmy “Company Man” Fallon. Another greedy fucker like Jimmy “Crybaby” Kimmel, who as you all recall got suspended and could and should have went scorched earth but instead……complete silence.

Don’t hold either of these spineless clowns out to be free speech warriors or patriots.

He has enough money and assets to get fired for standing up but dude loves money too much and found himself an easy gig.

    17. mrdangerzone on

Yeah we know what you’re gonna do Jimmy. You didn’t need to make a statement.

I will say, it might not be his call. It’s the Tonight Show. It’s historic. I bet his bosses and the network wouldn’t let him say shit anyways.

I can’t imagine it was Fallons idea to have Trump on in 2016. But he also agreed to do it.

That being said, I wouldnt care what laughing goofy Jimmy Fallin has to say about politics anyways.

    18. The dude that tousled Trump’s hair to humanize him is still sitting on the sidelines? Am I supposed to be shocked or something?

    19. Entertainers are damned if they do damned if they don’t. Speak up they’re almost always met with a „shut up and entertain“ backlash. If they don’t speak up suddenly folk are upset ill equipped entertainers aren’t speaking up

    20. omnipotentqueue on

He’s the worst of them – and a bitch at that. It’s why he wasn’t on stage with Kimmel.
