It’s time for a general strike. The only thing Politicians and CEOs respect and respond to is money. We must act with our tax and spending dollars. We need a general strike; millions or tens of millions involved. We have forgotten this is our country and we have the power in numbers together. We could get any demand in weeks with a general worker strike. For the first time in history the general population has the means to easily mass disseminate information and organize.

I’ve seen some comments happily joking about how this will hurt poor people the most because MAGA tends to be poor. I understand that people voting against their own best interest is amusing, but there’s a callousness I’m seeing that disturbs me.
As a lifelong Democrat-straight-down-the-ticket voter who was born into and will probably die in poverty, I’m not suffering financially any less than a Republican voter. Poor people do not, as a class, deserve what we’re going through. Please also remember that things like race, gender, sex, disability, and more can unjustly affect someone’s income.
To be clear, I am for the shutdown. We desperately need to take a stand and I am glad that trans rights and healthcare are the sticking point we’ve gone with. I’m relieved Democrats aren’t backing down. I just don’t think we should be *celebrating* things like kids going hungry or sick people not being able to get help in the meantime.
We all deserve safety nets.
