    1. U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated his suggestion that Canada should consider becoming the 51st state during a recent event with military officials in Virginia. He claimed that Canada expressed interest in joining the U.S. and argued that it would benefit from the Golden Dome missile defense system if it were part of the country. Trump acknowledged that he was unsure if his proposal would have a significant impact but believed that uniting the two nations made sense, especially given Canada’s struggles with tariffs.

    2. I wonder how many world authorities are just waiting, as a strategy, and just thinking about how to pick up the pieces later?

    3. As funny as it sounds at first, it is not as wild as it sounds. Alberta is flirting with the idea of breaking off of Canada and doing their own thing, or even maybe joining the US.

Canada will NEVER bend the knee to the meth lab in the basement.

    5. I mean, even if this were not a very stupid thing to say in public, wouldn’t the argument be they Canada join as the 51st-60th states? Canada is, like the US, a federation of nominally sovereign states (called „provinces“ in Canada). If Canada were to join the US, it makes much more sense to unwind the Canadian confederation and have the Canadian provinces join the US separately as states.

But that’s all immaterial because Canada will not be joining the US voluntarily anytime soon and suggesting that they do is deeply inflammatory and dumb.
