      This isn’t unique to Gaza, it’s widespread in every country unfortunately

    2. It doesn’t make it right but what do you expect?

      It’s a fucking war zone.

      Edit: Blame Hamas for creating the unstable situation in Gaza that allows it’s own male population to take advantage of these women.

    3. Theres nothing more heartbreaking than these women telling ap that they openly fear their own families will potentially be violent with them. How messed up is some societys where your own family will harm you for being the victim of sexual assault

      This is heartbreaking and a travesty – the other side of the coin as man – you don’t even have that option you’re just fucked.

      I love how the article doesn’t mention that the men were local. It’s not a big dealm just one of those things I notice. AP.

    6. These are the same people who had no qualms raping women on 10/7. Did anyone really think that was indicative of fine, upstanding, respectful men?

      It’s the classic cycle of hate from war.

      -> War destroys the economy
      -> Justice system collapses or becomes controlled by warring parties
      -> Good upstanding people often flee or die
      -> Many remaining people are bad actors and take advantage of the chaos
      -> Women get raped or exploited by bad actors or combatants
      -> A new generation of broken hateful children are born who often have no father or role models
      -> Criminal and extremist organizations are fed new members as they become teenagers and adults
      -> A new war begins
