> “I didn’t talk to Austin [Butler], I didn’t talk to Rami [Malek], I didn’t talk to Timothée [Chalamet]. And sometimes I wish I had, but my process was a little different because I had Bruce,” White told Variety on the red carpet at New York Film Festival. “There was a part of me that almost wanted to lock myself in a room alone, and if I needed to reach out to the world, then it would be to the man himself. I felt very lucky I had him so close.”
> After he finished shooting “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” White went off to film an upcoming A24 crime movie called “Enemies” with Butler. Asked if he and Butler bonded about playing music legends and eventually shedding those characters, White said, “Very early on, Austin and I spoke about process.”
> “I had already made my film, and obviously Austin had already made his, but he was so helpful,” White added. “I wish I’d met him earlier.”
That’s kinda neat tho cus maybe he’ll have a different way at going about it than those other biopic stars 🤷♂️
The press appointing Austin Butler as Drag Mother to other actors playing musicians is very funny and bizarre
Jeremy Allen White will always look like Jeremy Allen White pretending to be someone else. It baffles me that he’s considered a good actor.
I saw someone here say this Speingsteen biopic is the first time they’ve had a singer played by an actor who’s much less good looking and it’s stuck in my head
There’s only one man he should’ve talked to about music biopics, and that’s John C Reilly
Why would he? Music biopics have been around for a long ass time. Plus its not like this is his first movie role.
„the thing is, Jare, you gotta act like the guy. You gotta look like him and act like him. If you act like someone else people will be like, he didn’t act like the guy. That’s not what you want.“
I hope he consulted Jabba the Hutt about playing a space slug before filming (looks up Mandalorian movie credits) …”Rotta the Hutt”.
Consult? LOL! Rami Malek didn’t even fucking sing.
> it wasn’t like rdj to tom Holland for MCU
Ok let’s just stop going to see these biopics. We don’t need an avengers movie for 70s/80s rock stars lol
Who’s gonna play Robert Smith in a biopic?
Why is the new format for stars: Hey this guy has some fame now, what musician can we do a biopic for that’ll be forgotten before it’s first week in theaters is even over?
Like who is clamoring for biopics? Especially in this age of docuseries that are 1,000x more interesting.
I just feel like there *had* to be an actor in Los Angeles that looks at least a little bit like Bruce Springsteen.
Like these other guys at least sort of somewhat resemble the musician they were playing – or at least makeup was able to get them there.
Jeremy Allen White looks nothing like Bruce Springsteen (outside of them having a similar haircut for a stretch of time, respectively,) and in the trailer, makeup clearly couldn’t get him there, either.
Why would you consult three guys who did terrible jobs (didn’t see the bob Dylan one, maybe he was fine)
*stares into space with eyes bulging and lips pursed*
If you thought Timothée Chalamet sounded bad singing Bob Dylan songs, wait until you hear Bob Dylan singing Bob Dylan songs.
Don’t forget Jaime Fox.
