Since when Xi started pushing Trump?

This is the big shoe to drop.
A steep American recession, or re-ignition of inflation means the US is not at all on financial footing to fight/support any war against a military like China’s.

Trump is super tough on China, that’s a big reason why he was voted in as president. And by tough we all know that means bribable extremely bribable.

IMO they will attack when it is politically needed. When there’s a corruption issue, a major protest, people feeling bad about the government, you get the idea. Right now, everything is going well, so I don’t expect a move (hope I don’t jinx it)
I think unless they need a victory, they won’t execute this. I don’t support this in any way, but that’s at least what history teaches us..

This is kind of funny because the United States has never supported Taiwan independence. Asking the USA to oppose Taiwan independence is literally asking the United States to continue the exact same policy we’ve have in place since the 1970s.

It will be a test to see whether Trump will betray Taiwan, a functional democracy, to CCP. Regardless, I don’t think it’s good for the US to take a firm stance against Taiwan’s self-determination. Trillions in US economy will be gone almost immediately without TSMC.

I don’t get how this isn’t a more discussed topic. China wants the semiconductor industry so they can have the advantage in all things technology.
Why would anyone but China support Taiwan independence?

Chinese President Xi Jinping is renewing a push for the US to change a decades-old phrase describing its stance on Taiwan independence, a concession that would be a major diplomatic win for Beijing.
China has asked the Trump administration to officially declare that it “opposes” Taiwan independence, according to a person familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified discussing private information.
The suggested wording is stronger than the Biden administration’s previous statement that US officials “do not support” the self-ruled island seeking formal independence, and would add to China’s campaign to isolate Taiwan on the world stage.

He knows Trump is so poorly versed in US policy on Taiwan that he can probably get him to blurt out some pro-CCP line.

Taiwan has always been independent. At no point in the history of the People’s Republic of China have they had territorial, governmental or military control over the island of Taiwan. The idea that most of the world is cowed into this stance where they refuse to openly acknowledge that reality is farcical.
