Yet with Netanyahu pushing military advances and Hamas signaling defiance, the plan highlights the widening gap between U.S. diplomatic ambitions and the realities on the ground, raising questions about whether this initiative is genuine peacemaking or more political theater.

      This is theater. One of the parties to the conflict – Hamas – have not agreed. The purpose of this announcement is to provide cover to blame Hamas when they predictably don’t return the hostages and surrender, and the war continues.

      Even then how would they deal with the clans? This is still quite a tribal society where the tribal leader still hold a lot of influence

      Is Hamas and Netanyahu aware of this? Hamas would need to drop their arms for any sort of resolution to push forward here or we are just laying the groundwork for another war down the road.

      The IRA and Nepalese Maoists did such for the Good Friday Agreement and 2006 Comprehensive Peace Accord to happen.
