Anyone with a cursory knowledge of firearms knows the 306 is nonsense. a .223 would also be much more damaging.

It’s okay to be skeptical. I don’t think a lot of it totally lines up either.. but ballistics gel is NOT an accurate representation of a human being shot. It is a demonstration and testing tool used to provide cheap and easily repeatable metrics. It is at BEST an analog to soft tissue.
Animals (including humans) are typically a lot more than soft tissue…

I am glad he made a digestible short video to educate non-gun users. Hopefully this allows people who are spending time worrying if this narrative makes sense can be convinced it’s bullshit and put their thinking elsewhere on the Why and the Who

Neckbone isn’t one thing it’s made up of plenty of softer gaps, a 30.06 isn’t going be deflected or radically slowed down to not still fly out – pretty straight through.
No-one is eating that chump sandwich, being fed a joke turd.
A .30-06 pushes a 150 grain bullet 2700 to 2900fps, maybe a bit faster depending on the load. (Garand loads are, of course, different.)
The heavier the bullet, though, the more chance of a pass-through.
What happens is this: Upon bullet impact, the bullet begins to deform as its design dictates. This creates larger temporary and permanent wound cavities than would be made by ball.
As it continues through it target, the bullet may lose some fragments. Again, this depends on its design. A bullet’s main body will stay intact. If the jacket sheds, the main body will be a large piece of lead. The fragments and jacket pieces become secondary projectiles.
Chances are bone will be hit, and the bone becomes secondary projectiles, as well, with their own wound tracks.
The bullet exits. Depending on whether it’s bonded and how well, it may have significant loss of mass, or it may be a mushroom shape with over 99% retained weight.
Anything in the .30-06 class (.308, 7.62x54r, 8mm Mauser, .30-06) will go through most large tree trunks and into the next tree. I have trees downed by 7.62x54r and 7.62×39.
You cannot count on a tree to stop the bullet. Two large trees, maybe.
The real „goal“ is to achieve full penetration to the vitals, and not have the bullet exit. You really want to have the bullet transfer all of its energy to the target creating a large wound cavity. But they’re saying the bullet was found right under the skin. If that’s true his head should’ve been blown off of hanging on by a few muscles.

Did they match the grain count as the real bullet? My point: could have been recycled ammo, lower velocity to save money as range ammo or something like that. If the story is true about the kid stealing the gun, could have also stole some bunk-ass self recycled range ammo gramps had laying around.
Just an idea, this is a conspiracy thread not a “I have all the facts thread”.

Anybody who hunts with and has shot a big game animal with a 30-06 knew this. Put a round thru both front shoulders of a 210lb whitetail once, and you could stick your fist in the exit hole. Absolutely zero chance a human neck is absorbing and stopping a bullet that is still carrying north of 2000ft/lbs of energy at 200 yards,

He wasn’t even shot. The type of blood (coagulated/thick) shooting out from under his shirt and then not being found anywhere else aside from next to his chair- not even a drop additional- is the smoking gun that shits on all theories that exist right now.
