Study completely funded by the US government at the urging of the oil lobby?
I didn’t read everywhere, kinda skimmed through so apologies if I missed this – but this report seems to have two flaws:
1.) it appears as if this study is based on current solar technology capabilities, I believe a trend of efficiency improvement and capacity should be considered over time and
2.) land is literally land in this study from what I read – **why has no one looked around at all the fricking parking lots and brick & mortar rooftop square footage we have littering most suburban regions for solar installation?**
I sware to you, Reddit, I’m gonna have to create my own company to install solar operations and establish integrated grid sales for excess production if no one else does this soon – and I don’t wanna have to do all that paperwork.
A hot mess of a paper. The paper says an additional 6,000 square km is needed, which is only a little more than the area of Rhode Island.
Worse, the authors skip the fact that this land is simultaneously used for stuff besides power generation. Think solar rooftops on homes, wind turbines in wheat fields, sheep under utility solar arrays.
