      That’s super interesting.

Whats weird is the “why”- why would it be blocked?

This child having three incomes supporting them makes it seem this is a grand standing issue more than anything to deal with the child’s well being.

Also oh Quebec- they are Randobot when it comes to political views. Supporting climate action, openly racist and anti immigration- their political rhetoric at a glance has zero causality whatsoever until you realize all their culture is based upon preserving a French Canadian identity.

I’m pretty progressive socially but I think we need more research done on this stuff.  I’m onboard with a gay couple raising kids but I really don’t know how I feel about a polycule or whatever you call it raising kids.

    3. Huh. Good for them. I hope they succeed.

3 adults with incomes, I’m fine with.

3 adults where only one has an income and two are effectively dependents, I feel weird about. Add religion and I feel uncomfortable.

Seems like grandstanding on these fellas part. Just have two of them be designated the parents and let the third one share in the responsibility if they’re so certain that this is a stable environment to raise a child in.

I personally don’t care. There are plenty of “traditional” couples who are shitty parents. Plenty of single parents out of necessity which was my case as my dad died when I was young. Plenty of good gay parents. If the kid is in a loving home who cares? Better than having the shit beat out of him/her by an alcoholic father in a “traditional” male/female couple.

Good for them, Quebec should do this. There are many scenarios with more than two parents we already deem socially acceptable, like with line-in grandparents, uncles and aunts, step-parents. There’s no reason that third parents shouldn’t be allowed parental rights in the general case.

Lots of children already grow up with three (or four) parents and turn out just fine.

Step-parents and blended families are the norm these days, how is this so different?
