      > An NPR-Ipsos poll published Saturday found that 49 percent of respondents oppose the deployment of National Guard troops to a major city in their state for law enforcement efforts, while 38 percent said they would support the move and 12 percent said they were unsure.

The level of willful ignorance contained in that last 12 percent is *staggering*

    2. Why hasn’t the news media asked for documented results from previous deployments? In other words, what was accomplished?

Otherwise, this is just Trump’s attempt to get Americans used to having active troops in major cities – with no reasonable justification. Following his attempts to silence Colbert and Kimmel, this will soon allow Trump to crush protests and dissent in the streets.

Here’s an idea. Why don’t we ask the people in the cities how they feel? I don’t care what someone in the middle of bum *bleep* nowhere thinks about sending the Guard into a city 2,000 miles away.

These National Guardsmen are about to go unpaid. When the shutdown starts ALL troops will continue without pay. This includes national guardsmen that are normally paid by a state until they are activated then the fed pays. Nightmare scenario is Trump is going to use this shutdown to gut government but the troops he needs to quell unrest will be unpaid. Classic Trump shit show.

And if they keep saying mean stuff about him, Americans may generally be put in camps. I think we’re well past the stage of public opinion being a priority.

Whoa….50% of people either support the militarization or are unsure how to feel about it.

Then again, it’s not too surprising. The centrists I know generally don’t seem too bothered by the militarization of cities. Some of them are actually looking forward to more peace and quiet lol

And yet…. None of us are doing shit about it. We watch. In horror. Waiting for someone else.

I’m just as complacent as you all are. Hoping someone else can pick up the torch because I’m so buried in debt and work pressure and need my job for my family…. Just like you.

„Opposé“ hear having the meaning of „mildly disapprove but not enough to actually care.“

    9. Americans should really learn history. Sending troops into cities of your own country is a classic move

    10. ‚The Americans generally oppose fascist takeover‘

Never seen a nation brought so low so quick. In 10 years you went from touting democracy and freedom to electing a dictator. I wouldn’t be surprised if by the end of Trump’s term Americans approved returning Alaska to Russia.
