Don't like transphobes but isn't this concerning?

what? in switzerland too ? i thought it could happen only in third world countries like UK
but for real what did he exactly say
His statement wasn’t even wrong. The world’s going downhill real fast
I doubt that this is all on this story.
E: its clear that he said way worse stuff than that, otherwise no one wouldve given a shit about him. Anyway, he gets what he deserves.
actually, you’re liable for hate speech on your social media
I’d need to get a hold of the whole statement the person made to be able to discuss whether it’s over the top or right to react that way
yeah… that source is not trustworthy. Doesn‘t mean it‘s wrong necessarily, but I wouldn‘t junp to conclusions from this.
1. What is this source?
2. In Switzerland you get „Tagessatz“ or „jour-amende“ in French. Which translate to Day-fine. Which basically replaces a certain amount of jail time by a fine. You can choose to either pay or do the jail time. For most people it just means it’s a fine… **HE Decided HIMSELF** to do the jail time instead.
He called trans people mentally ill and got a fine for it. I don‘t see the problem. Hate speech has consequences.
I’m curious which part of the quote is the part that was used in the judgement:
>If you dig up LGBTQI people after 200 years, you’ll only find men and women based on their skeletons. Everything else is a mental illness promoted through the curriculum.
The first part seems like a simple statement of fact, the second part could be interpreted as a problematic opinion.
The state putting someone behind bars for a Facebook comment is deeply troubling in principle. It feels like a slippery slope toward suppressing unpopular opinion*.
^(*Opinion, **not** facts, nor I agree in particular with what he said.)
Greetings.

It’s probably because he called it a“mental illness“. Under the law it makes sense, that is kind of „degrading“.
I think the restrictions on free speech are stupid anyways, it should be a „1st amendment“ esque rule instead of whatever the hell this is. Let the people speak their mind…
And it’s going to start happening in CH real soon.
That’s what you get when you live in a leftist society (like CH).
I might get banned from this sub for saying this but I don’t give a flying fuck.
He isn’t put in jail for the comment. He is because he hasn’t paid his fine. Which he got for claiming lgbtq people are „psychisch krank“ and on top stating in the police questioning they are all pedophiles.
Translation: *“If you dig up LGBTQI people after 200 years, you will only find men and women based on their skeletons, everything else is a mental illness that has been brought up by the school curriculum!“*
Even though this is technically a form of hate speech, I do not believe that a prison sentence is justified (even after refusing to pay a fine). I know that’s how the system works, but it’s a bit silly, to be honest.
If you spend just five minutes on Facebook or X, you’ll find dozens of posts that are far, far worse than that. So why single out this guy? Because he commented on a politician’s post, that’s why.
Maybe he was shouting slurs against trans people while not paying for a Migros bag…
I don’t get it. Since we can identify as what we want, can’t he identify as a six year old at the time he posted the comment? And then escape all responsibility?
Or are we being retrograde and imposing on his freedom to define himself.
