President Donald Trump ordered military troops to be deployed to Portland, Oregon, and said he is authorizing the use of “full force” if necessary to fight crime.
“At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists,” Trump said Saturday in a post on Truth Social. “I am also authorizing Full Force, if necessary.”
The Trump administration has deployed National Guard troops to Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and Memphis. The post wasn’t specific about whether he was referring to Guard troops or regular military.

He specifically doesn’t mention National Guard and says that he’s “also authorizing Full Force” whatever the hell that means. So, is this another photo op with a couple NG guys standing on a corner, or something bigger?

As someone who lives in Portland, I find it beyond baffling that people think there is some kind of crisis here. What are they going to do, break up some of the bike theft gangs? Help you get a reservation at KANN? I can’t imagine going through life thinking Portland is a dangerous place.
Also, it’s crazy to think how much effort could be devoted to homelessness for the money they’re going to blow on this.
So he just greenlit the US military killing civilian protesters.
Every officer who goes along with this needs to be kept track of for a dishonorable discharge. Every single one of them is violating their oath.
Portland is doing just fine. It’s not on fire, or in danger of being burnt down. There aren’t even any demonstrations happening, it’s gorgeous fall weather, the leaves just starting to turn, and people are out doing normal things. There’s new construction and new projects happening and in general life is very normal.
I can’t imagine what anyone thinks soldiers would do here. Maybe they’ll pick up trash like they did in DC?

I’ve been hearing Donald Trump talk about Antifa for 10 years. I’ve never seen mass Antifa movements. I’ve seen Proud Boys ravage our very own Capitol, and literal Nazis in the streets. What do they get? Presidential pardons and commendment for being „warriors“ and „patriots“. Now the president is sending armed troops to every major blue city and labeling all who oppose him as terrorist groups. This is fascist authoritarian rule. Donald Trump is waging war on our very own country. He has called us „rats“, „scum“, and „the enemy within“.
It’s beyond frustrating that we saw this coming, and the masses didn’t come out in DROVES to vote against him. If this doesn’t finally energize all who oppose him, I don’t know what will.

I’m a Portland resident and it’s still so wild how people perceive Portland from afar. Especially people who consider it a war zone. The administration will not be getting the reaction they are hoping for and it’ll be hilarious to see loitering soldiers near brunch lines or watching some street performers outside of Powell’s
