It’s the same bill C-63 just re worded. It has all the same issues attached.
Remember the UK started with similar laws
Compared to that Online Harms Act garbage they were pushing, this bill is a breath of fresh air. It deals with actual harassment and the imagery connected to historical atrocities.
Having said that, from a practicality standpoint, I really don’t know how you go about banning the swastika in public. If a symbol at a Buddhist temple is lightly askew, are they going to be brought up on hate crime charges?
Do we trust the general public, woefully uneducated and ignorant as they are, to even know the difference between the Nazi swastika and the symbol that dates back 17,000 years?
Like look at these seals originating from the Indus Valley Civilization. They’re about 4,000 years old. Are these going to banned from museums under this legislation?
