Excuse from housing department is they have to do due diligence. They couldn’t do that while they were being built?
Meanwhile, people are waiting on these and my taxes are paying private landlords.
There’s a bloke with a 251 ford ranger out the front of a newly built social house just up from clover hill prison.
Where was the ‘due diligence’ then?
My read on this is that the delay was the department of housing approving the AHB so they could take on management of the property.
Why this was allowed to happen when public capital is tied up while not getting rents that could be used to finance new schemes and avoid paying out HAP subsidies is gobsmacking. This is the type of thing the Public Accounts Committee should be investigating, but they’re too interested in the more headline grabbing salary gawping cases than these real genuine mismanagement of public funds cases.
