The Hamas leaders were living lavish lifestyles in other countries, some were billionaires, while ordering suffering and terrorism for the people of Palestine.

Consensus of statehood is rewarding Hamas leaders, and ensuring their continued siphoning of wealth away from the Palestinian people and into their own pockets. Not really surprising. There is no functional Palestinian state currently to recognize. Just sentimentalism and posturing. The recognizition of states should actually be based on fulfilling the requirements to „be a functioning state“ and not just sympathy.
