    1. > New French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu ruled out on Friday re-introducing a wealth tax or suspending an unpopular pension reform, giving some of the first indications of his policy plans as he tries to pull together a 2026 budget, and a government.

If he still refuse to compromise with the left/center-left, that means he is choosing to rely on the help of the far-right to avoid being overthrown by a vote of no confidence.

It also means he will end like Barnier and Bayrou, maybe even more quickly since we can guess that the far-right would like to push Macron to once again call snap elections.

I was interested if he has a plan, but the whole thing can be summarized as

„I have a concept of a plan, but no we aint touching the rich, leave them alone“

    3. The wealth tax was one of the conditions for the Parti Socialiste’s support. He knows he will be censored, so I wonder if he’s just buying time for Macron.

    4. Wealth tax in one form or another is unavoidable. The longer politicians trying to fight against it, the more brutal it will become. Billionaires have rigged system to the breaking point. Time to un-rigg it.

Not sure how you actually fix the French budget deficit within the current political outlook. It seems utterly impossible.

    6. Oh, they have certainly a perfectly rational explanation about it. It’s not like wealthies fortune have literally more than double this past 10 years.

The level of corruption of this system is sick, people reacting. Wealthies response? To finance fascism. They drive the world right to a dystopian hell.

Wrong choice, we have got to get these people to understand there NEEDS to be a redistribution of wealth in the world.

    8. Ah yes, how could we tax the ultra wealthy who became such due to the society they live in. That society owes them more. Tax the workers !

France already has high taxes on the wealthy. At some point crushing the people who invest capital for pensioners is going to give you zero growth.

    10. Sigh.

They never learn, do they? The guillotine’s will start showing up eventually.

    11. The best wealth tax is land value tax, you can replace almost all taxes with it.
