* „Let’s build it nice and solid. No need to show off about it, make it simple.“ = Romanesque
* „Let’s have pointy arches, and intricate carvings that look like leaves or flowers. If people are supposed to worship God in this building, they should at least feel a sense of awe.“ = Gothic
* „KITSCH! WE WANT KITSCH! LOTS OF CHERUBS AND GOLD!“ = Baroque
* „YES, KITSCH! BUT IN PASTEL!“ = Rococo
* „What were we thinking? Maybe we should study the ancient Greeks — now *that* was a civilisation.“ = Neoclassicism
