    1. *The 90,000-square-foot ballroom, announced over the summer, will dwarf the White House main residence, which is 55,000 square feet, not counting the East Wing and West Wing.*

A disgusting display of Trump’s greed and sslf promotion. It’ll ruin the place.

    2. Whoever runs against Maga in 2028 should commit to tearing down the Trump dance hall and rebuild something of use there. Maybe the Hillary Clinton Apple Orchard or Diamond Joe’s Ice Cream Emporium.

    3. Vulgar is a good word for it. Maybe the plan is to rent it out as a wedding venue in the off-season?

You don’t build something like this if you plan on leaving office in 3 years

Also remember, he claimed it would cost the taxpayers anything. However, it’s been disclosed there is a significant cost to the taxpayers.

    6. They will have to encase it in a brutalist concrete shell, like Chernobyl, once he’s passed.

You probably can have a MAGA wedding there if you donate 5 mil to some MAGA fund. 🤢🤢💩

    8. “Trump said in July the ballroom would be funded “by donors or whatever” and not taxpayer dollars.”

      Sure…

overcompensating for a ton of things, especially releasing the Epstein files

    10. They’re gonna have to just burn it down and start over by the time this fool is through. What a gross man. To imagine yourself so grandiose that you think you can turn this historical monument in to just another sleazy homage to your own ego. They’re going to rename it the Blight House by the time he leaves.

Who needs affordable healthcare when the supreme leader needs a new ballroom.

      Maga winning

It’ll be a display to the world that the US has abandoned its dignity for a huckster styled New Jersey themed casino. Only the simple minded and the unworldly will think it’s ‘neat’. Perfect for the vulgarians like Trump and Mrs. Vulgarian.

    13. I don’t think irs a ballroom at all. I think Trump envisions himself receiving those with tribute in his Throne Room like something out of Bridgerton. This guy doesn’t intend to leave and plans to extort billions from corporations and countries that need his favor. He wants a golden palace to do it all in. Just look at the campy mess he’s already made of the White House’s interior.

Assuming there is one, hopefully the next president tears it down if it actually gets built

He will have one of, if not the, most pissed on grave after he’s gone.

    16. Well for starters I’m glad this is an adjacent building. Which means it can be easily removed, albeit a waste of money, than destroying the integrity of the actual White House.

    17. Ouch. What do you call hang style? DC Nazi? Proud Boy chic? Albert Speer meets Liberace?

    18. The next president can rename it the AOC Emigrant Welcome Center and move the main emigration office and ask new LGBTQ+ offices in there.

I’m sure it will be as vulgar as the man … Just look at what this Neanderthal has done to the Oval Office. Hopefully the next president, if there is one, will erase Trumps garish fingerprint …

I’m not an architecture or design guy, but a ballroom eclipsing the residence it’s supposedly a part of, in both height and footprint, while not actually being *attached* to said residence, sounds poorly thought out and tacky as hell.

If anything it gives away what Trump *really* cares about, like Jay Leno’s garage being bigger than his house. He likes the pomp and circumstance of being in the wealthy and political elite most of all, and wants something built to reflect that.

The only reason anyone in small town America finds him „relatable“ or a „man of the people“ is because he claims to hate „wokeness“ and immigrants just as much as they do.

As a side note, this tweet from the article had an interesting interpretation of this:

      > It’s not a ballroom. Stop kidding yourselves. It’s going to be his gilded throne room. He’ll stop using the White House anymore and go all medieval kings court!

I could totally see the primary purpose of this being a replacement for the Oval Office, because it’ll be way bigger and gaudier. He’d get to feel like royalty rather than a „mere“ president.

republicans will whine about government waste if / when the next Dem president rips out all of Trump’s renovations

    22. „…And on the pedestal, these words appear:
      My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!“
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.“ Percy Shelley

Could not help but feel how prophetic this piece is. An homage to Russia oligarchy perhaps, brick and slab forged carried and will carry the blood of many.

Knowing Trump a gilded throne with his own initials will be at the center of the ballroom where 4 young girls in skimpy clothing can fan his fat head with palm leaves.

Know TFG’s opinions of the handicapped, do you think he will include wheelchair access. I realize they are required by law, but doubt he cares.

At first I hated what he was doing to change the white house but now I hope it serves as a symbolic reminder that elections have long term consequences

I’m sure, despite what trump claimed in his speech, the UN is very happy they didn’t hire him to renovate the building.  The guy has ghastly taste.

Between the sleazy bordello / casino lobby look on the inside of the White House and the Panera Patio where the rose garden used to be, the UN is breathing a sigh of relief.

I’m guessing that it won’t be a ballroom for long. It will be a „King’s Audience Chamber“ like in the story of Esther. He will sit on a throne while supplicants stand and wait for him to point his scepter at them so they can speak their grievance.

„Hmmm. Cut the baby in half!“

If you like what he did to the Oval Office, you’re going to love this ballroom.
