Submission statement: I mean it’s no secret that mods have been ban hammer crazy in many of the main and niche subs. You don’t need to actually violate any rules, they will just ban you for having the wrong opinion. Sometimes you don’t even need the wrong opinion, even commenting in a sub they don’t like is enough. I recall in the run up to the last election mods of the main subs were openly banning everyone that openly supported trump, swatting them like flies.
The point is, all this does is is create an extreme echo chamber where dangerous ideas are allowed to flourish. It also gives people a completely distorted idea of consensus views.
I think social media is as a whole, it’s dehumanized us and brought us closer online yet so much further apart in reality. Ever since they changed algorithms from “most recent” to “most engaging”, society has gone down hill. Reddit is definitely not helping with how left and echoey it’s become in the past 5 years

Hell yeah it is. It would be one thing if this was like an anything goes site. But you can get banned for just about anything….. except promoting violence against law enforcement, Republicans, Christians and white males… You know like most things.
Forward that thread to the FBI, don’t censor the usernames though

Which is weird, because I totally made an obvious joke about punching someone once on Reddit and I was banned in that sub. Reddit has been on the take for years.

Reddit is so infiltrated, so stuffed with bots and glowies that it’s pretty much more a petri dish than a social media site at this point.

You can find similar comments on other forums and websites. Left and right. It’s not a singular website or discussion that’s radicalizing people. It’s the combination of society, online discussion, and the access to information.
Reddit is doing something. Mods censor a lot of things that aren’t feeding into the radical left narrative. I tried doing a post on askReddit: “for anyone who was upset about jimmy kimmel, what are your thoughts about google and facebook admitting they censored due to pressure from Biden admin?” It was removed by mods instantly. And that sub is full of political posts and I didn’t break any rules.

No, it’s literal no life basement dwellers trying to get internet points. If you were to escalate and stand up against the evil establishment you wouldn’t write comments this regarded. They are just doomer jerkers, jerking too close to the sun. If you were here 5-9 years ago this wouldn’t be new, this is exactly what happened.

When people are inundated with shit like this everywhere they turn, eventually it lands on a legit crazy or mentally ill person that basically feels like they have nothing to live for and then something terrible happens in real life.
