    1. I find it ridiculous that NATO was formed to unite the nation’s against warfare. More specifically to stop the Soviet Union’s expansion. To be an intimidating force that should deter others from doing stupid crap. Yet come time to act on their purpose and they are too afraid to execute.

When Turkey downed Russian aircraft in 2015 after multiple warnings for violating their airspace, NATO responded by abandoning their troops in Syria to fend Russian attacks.

Germany and France responded by not backing but rebuking Turkey for their „escalation“.

I would say this hesitancy begun from that moment in and itself.

NATO did not back Turkey at that time. Why would countries now trust NATO to back them unless there is an explicit intent to attack?

Same here. Stop being such cowards, NATO leaders. You are not making anyone feel safer by outright letting Russia bully you.

He’s right. NATO needs to send a message to Russia the next time they enter NATO airspace.

    5. Most important thing to me is no ww3. There is more to this world then just us humans who wants to stand for what’s right.

    6. NATO can’t even find a pen to write the strongly worded letter, Zelenskyy should be in charge, there would be no airspace violations then.

      He’s right.

I’m fed up with words. People are getting really pissed off and stressed out.

No more words. Violate airspace again, immediate action of war.

If Wagner Group can storm Putin Russia, so can the entire European fleet.

    8. I get the hesitation to escalate, but this is Russia. They’re already putting Europe in an existential situation and they’ll keep pushing if they know they can get away with it.

Not the greatest example but Turkey shot down a Russian jet years ago. It obviously had political ramifications but not intensely significant like Russia is claiming now.

They’re doing the whole mad man with the big red button maneuver right now because they’re gambling on NATO to be so anti-reaction that nothing will happen. I say fuck em. They want to escalate, meet them back equally in kind.

Why all this talk from the UN Secretary General about shooting the drones down “only if absolutely necessary”? Russia has been warned once after this obvious campaign has started.

They’re drones. Don’t shoot them down “only if absolutely necessary”. Shoot them down for fun.

Russia’s going to deny they’re their’s anyways. Might as well get some target practice in.

Appeasement. Everyone is afraid to get their hands dirty. Maybe actually pop Russia in the mouth, school yard bullies aren’t ready for actual consequences.

    11. We should be almost done with the meetings/warnings part. That has to come first for sanity’s sake. Now it’s time to back it up. Shoot down anything that flies over from here on out.

As someone who lives in Baltics I have a different view on this. It’s clear the recent airspace violations are no accidents. I’m sure Russia hopes one of their planes gets shot down so they can make a massive deal about it and use it as justification for an even larger escalation (another mobilization for example).

What good would it do if we just shoot it down? Maybe it works like that time when Turkey did it, but what it if only serves them yet another propoganda angle to justify that NATO is already at war with them?

For now I think just escorting them out is the right call. Of course this is different for drones which definitely should just be shot down.
