Weird! Almost like they’re not worried about people voting for them in the next few years.

They’re not hiding it. This was called out months ago. People just chose to not care.
If Medicare benefits are cut but taxes remain the same, it functions like a general revenue tax disguised as an earmarked payroll tax, because the money props up the Treasury’s balance sheet while workers’ promised benefits shrink. This disproportionately hurts lower-income workers, both during their working years and during retirement. It’s regressive AF and the wealthy who prop up the GOP love it.
Their supporters won’t care. No need to hide it.
They want the democrats to help pass this, so the GOP won’t get all of the blame for it when it gets implemented.
I can envision Mike Lee doing his dopey grin about this. He can’t WAIT to gut medicare, medicaid, and social security.

These people have no shame and care not at all for Americans unless they are rich and can get them more power. That’s not most Americans, so they will continue to plunder and harm, all while asking their voters to, “Look what you made me do!”
I’m at the point where I think “fine, go for it. Eliminate Medicare altogether”. I’m sick of being the responsible party, trying like hell to save people from their stupid decisions. Let them suffer, and when they’ve had enough, we can do FDR 2.0 and build something better.

Whenever Republicans do something unhinged, they always have a huge media push to control the narrative, making Democrats out as the villains, despite Republicans being the actual villains trying to fuck over everyone, including a lot of Republican voters.
This will make private insurance more expensive as well. Expect larger payroll deductions by your employer, or a reduction in benefits.
