Think the truth is more in the middle.

There’s definitely a problem with the modern job market. A lot of coporate chains are exploiting the temporary worker streams to suppress wages. And the modern online job search platforms mean that a lot of businesses get overwhelmed with applications when they list a job posting, turning the job market into a crapshoot.

But Canada has a cultural problem, particulary amongst the middle and working class. Who have a tendancy to over-emphasize crendetials, and often completely disregard the importance of networking and work experience.

A lot Gen Z have been too focused on grades, and been repeatedly told that jobs that don’t rely on university degrees don’t pay well. So the amount of people getting to their early and mid twenties having never held a steady job is increasing. And employers are not impressed by university graduates without work experience.

    2. Millennial here and dont worry Gen Z cause this wont stop until Gen Alpha rolls up. The sad reality is they will always call the next generation lazy because the alternative is they accept that THEIR decisions are what screwed over their children and the next generations coming up and the older generations will always find a scapegoat when the only alternative is accept blame.

Remember society does best when people plant trees for who’s shade they will never sit under.

And the conservative government in Ontario has been clear cutting since 2018
