Hmm. If it’s covered in snow a lot it can look nice in some places.

But I would say it’s just a touristy spot.

    2. In what world do you imagine a Santa village would not be touristy? Like earthy off the beaten track street food and off duty elves sinking beers after a hard shift at the toy factory?

It can be worth it and still touristy if you’ve got kids or love Christmas. YMMV.
May kids enjoyed it. I wouldn’t go with my mates.

In my opinion it’s lovely and worth visiting but at the same time – of course it’s touristy

    4. Please define ”too touristy” as it is a location built only for tourists.

I think its worth stopping for an hour if its on your way, but not to spend time at

    6. If its covered in snow. Its nice. But very touristy. But nice.

      A good evening.

Been to lapland 4 times so ask away any questions.

I was there couple of years ago. Got a photo with Santa. The shops sell nice items, how ever many of them are too expensive, but like every single gift shop across the world is the same.

I liked it. If you’re going to Rovaniemi anyway, just visit it.

Well, yeah, it’s for the tourists. Not saying it can’t be an interesting experience for someone who isn’t used to cold, snow and eternal dakrness, but then again if you’re looking for some crazy experiences you can probably message some old Finnish dude with a visible eye twich that is going to lead you into the middle of the forest to scream at trees while forcing you to carry a stick that you’re supposed to pretend that it’s a rifle. I mean, choices.

    9. > Is Santa Claus Village worth it,

It’s free entry, so kind of yes. However what they sell there, might not be best worth/price ratio.

    10. I’d recommend a quick visit. Maybe set aside the day you arrive or the day you are leaving to take a look around. Kids will enjoy it. It’s 3 minutes drive from the airport. After that I’d recommend heading elsewhere. Ruka is about 3 hours drive from there and it’s magical. Great hiking, skiing, all the same activities available (husky rides, reindeer, snowmobile etc. ) And Santa takes a trip over there too because he knows everyone can’t make it to SCV!

I’d say it’s like fifty-sixty, it can be a bit touristy, but it does have it’s own mood and i go there every year, near christmas, with the kids.

Yes, but I wouldn’t spend that much time there. The activities are pretty expensive. But the shops and athmosphere are nice. Also fun to see actual tourists in Finland, as they’re not that common in my place

Pretty the Most touristy least authentic thing there is in all of Finland. But if there’s snow and you’re really into Christmas then go for it. Otherwise no.

    14. It’s very touristy and very worth it. 1000X over if you’re travelling with kids.

Went there with my family in mid December 2022 and it was magical.
It’s worth the trip up to Levi as well if you have time.

I would go so far as to say one hasn’t experienced Christmas until they’ve been to Finland in that period.
Even the centre of Helsinki felt more like Xmas in those few days than the 46 other Christmas‘ I’d experienced in my life combined 😅

A gorgeous country that I hope to come back to again soon.
