ROME, Sept 23 (Reuters) – Italy will recognise a Palestinian state only if all Israeli hostages are released and the Hamas militant group is excluded from any government role, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Tuesday.“I am not against the recognition of Palestine, but we should set ourselves the right priorities,“ Meloni told reporters, announcing her government would present a motion to parliament on the issue.

      >Speaking from New York where she is attending the United Nations General Assembly, Meloni also said international pressure should be placed on Hamas rather than Israel, blaming the group for[starting the war](https://www.reuters.com/world/israel-hamas/) and blocking its end by refusing to hand over hostages.

Personal take: Shes 100% correct. There is almost 0 international pressure on Hamas to end the war, a war started by their actions, only demanding Israel to stop.

It is a very good step to want a Palestinian state, which will help israeli security, by demanding the extremists have no part.

    2. Either it’s a terrorist group or it’s a state. Can’t be both. Clever solution.

If the world was as smart as this Hamas would agree to terms ending the war a year ago. Instead most nations chose to practically side with Hamas and only pressure the victim which had war declared on it in the most brutal way possible, Israel.
