Everyone knows most of these claims are bogus, but even so, some of them aren’t. We have a responsibility to get through these claims in a judicious manner, but also we shouldn’t be putting claimants up in hotels for years. The solution to me seems fairly obvious. Hire a fuckton more people to process refugee claims. Yes it costs money, but we’re spending money already trying to accommodate claimants while their claims are pending. So just spend the money in the public service so we can ascertain which claims are legitimate and deport those that aren’t expeditiously instead of having them stick around in the country on the public dime for years.
Praise Allah the Liberals are starting to get it.
Canadians don’t work hard and pay taxes so that every “asylum seeker” can get a free ride in a hotel with comped meals for years while the rest of us get squeezed by cost of living.
Force a 50% co-pay on all of these “refugees” for their expenses and see quickly how many are actually scared for their lives. My bet is less than a third.
We’re a high-trust society. To most people around the world there’s another word for that: suckers.

It’s tough out there, but it’s not fair that asylum seekers are getting better assistance with finding housing than actual Canadians
The ones that are worried now should have thought about their prospects before they showed up. We don’t live in a „everything is free if you can’t afford to support yourself or your family“ society.
Some will integrate nicely, others won’t. Life is definitely cruel.
Where are these people going to stay then? They can’t work. That’s why Doug Ford was saying to give them work permits so they can have means to earn money. If you’re going to cut the hotel rooms then give them work permits to work.

Ah that sucks, but neither can a lot of Canadians. Maybe try to asylum shop less next time. Nobody ends up in Canada on the other side of the world before crossing through or by multiple other safe countries they could claim in. Majority of these people are not legitimate asylum cases, they’re asylum shopping, and the rides over, go home, worlds smallest violin.
It turns out that immigrating to a HCOL country with no savings is not a financially viable plan. They’ll just need to save more before coming or immigrate somewhere more affordable. There’s plenty of countries other than Canada where they can seek asylum.
