      I was curious how many Apaches were shot down in Iraq and it turns out it was 15.

      Also, an additional 19 were lost to accidents/crashes.

      Maybe I’m just naive but it was surprising to me that more were lost to accidents than to enemy fire.

      MANPAD’s are a helicopters worst adversary since they are portable devices that give little to no warning and aren’t easily identifiable from the ground, Ramadi and Baghdad were a shit show for Aviation assets during that time. RIP to the crews.

      The official status was US lost no abrams, tanks, helis during this tour.
      Kinda surprising that’s the opposite.
