> “I’m just at the age and at the point of my life where life’s just too goddamn short,” Bautista said. “I want to work with people I just love and respect, because I love this business. I love filmmaking, and if people don’t want to be there, I don’t want to be there with them. You know?”
> “I’m happy to be there. It’s a love thing for me, and I’m passionate about it,” Bautista added. “I want to be there, and I want to make the most of it, so I don’t want to hear people bitching, complaining, moaning, and groaning about doing something that we’re all fortunate enough to be doing and making.”

If you’re not doing any of those things, are you really making movies?!

Counter argument: I believe that anyone who has agreed to do something that involves any amount of effort gets to complain about it, because I like complaining about things and I’ve also discovered that I’m a lot more motivated to actually follow through with difficult things when I let myself whine about them as much as I want to.

This feels like the kind of quote a person will walk back and feel silly about in a couple years, or will double down hard on

Is this because of what Emma Watson said?

His delicate ears and fragile disposition cannot handle mean words said by others. Imagine the hubris of demanding the world conform to Bautista’s comfort level. He should pull up his bootstraps.

On the one hand, sure. No one likes working with that one guy who’s never happy, constantly denigrating the work, always slagging anyone and everyone who’s ever dared tell him what to do.
On the other hand, “You don’t like it, go work somewhere else.” is just the sort of thing a union busting boss or corporate toady would say.
What I’m saying is, we need some context.

I mean, there’s you at the tail end of a 17 hour day and you’re so tired you walked into the wall of the set. Or the time they used a natural fertilizer to simulate explosions and it unfortunately clings to every surface including your clothes, skin, hair and teeth and you’re spitting black for the rest of the day. The fact that you’ve worked 7 straight days for 6 weeks and they’ve all be 14 hours and you’ve ceased to be human. The fact that you watched a guy fall off a ladder and break all the bones on the left side of his body and as you’re watching him get loaded into an ambulance your foreman is like „ok, now get back to work before they catch us standing around.“
But at least your trailer has AC Dave! I’ve had heatstroke on set twice! The AC is for the talent only!
We wanted to strike over these conditions but the oligarchs who now run the studios put us all out of work after the last strike as a punishment so we’re fucking lucky to even be working now! Lol! Lmao!

His remarks sound like someone who understands that he’s doing a job that a lot of people dream of having.
Of course, people are going to react to this like he said something completely appalling since that’s how the internet is now.

Nothing better that to have a shitty day, be tired, miss your family, just have an off day and a co-worker going: you should be greatful to be here!
I mean I get the no assholes thing of acting like a diva who graces everyone with their presence, so everyone should just be greatful for them even showing up. But it seems like making a movie is hard; long hours, away from family, not great conditions, physically and emotionally taxing… It seems bitching and moaning sometimes is healthy.

Didn’t he spend a lot of time bitching about Marvel and “not being used enough”??

Who is moaning and groaning?

I’m more on the TV side, and I can kind of get behind this attitude, but also, for most of the crew, it is just a job. Crewing on a set can be a very difficult, demanding, and stressful job, with long days and little free time. Some days it can just straight up suck. It’s a job, and sometimes doing your job can be a pain in the ass. Still love it, though. I’d much rather be busting my ass on a set than sitting in an office.

He said before he wanted to get to a level where he has enough stroke to get things done quicker. He realized how A-Listers have the power to get things done and not just wait around.
