Clearly the government can, but I’m glad they are not making it easy for them.
Whoopi Goldberg:
>“Did y’all really think we weren’t going to talk about Jimmy Kimmel? I mean, have you watched the show over the last 29 seasons? No one silences us.
>When the news broke last week about Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension, we took a breath to see if Jimmy was going to say anything about it first. You cannot like show and it can go off the air. Someone can say something they shouldn’t and get taken off the air. But the government cannot apply pressure to force someone to be silenced.”
Ana Navarror:
>“I don’t understand how in this country, where the first Amendment was made to the constitution to guarantee freedom of the press and freedom of speech, how the government itself is using its weight and power to bully and scare people into silence.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin:
>“The first amendment is the first for a reason because you need to be able to hold those in power accountable.”
They were afraid they would lose their cushy $millions of dollars$ jobs!
Authoritarianism is so depressing
The show’s executives left likely read the tea leaves and discovered the obvious.
It’s already been done.
My advice to Jimmy Kimmel…
Just be funny.

IMO, this was an approved statement. Everything a lot of these hosts say has got to be run through the corporate filter. Especially now. They didn’t fly off the handle and say it anyway, but it would be cool if they did.
They are acting like Jimmy’s in a gulag somewhere. This one specific platform was taken from him. A platform he only has because the company that owns it gave it to him and if that company wants to lick Trump’s ass, that’s their right, I guess. But he could go on MSNBC tomorrow and say whatever he wants. He’s probably been advised by a legal advisor not to talk about it because they are planning on filing suit against Nexstar and/or the FCC.
