    1. *From Bloomberg News reporters Agnieszka Barteczko and Piotr Skolimowski:*

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Poland is prepared to shoot down foreign aircraft that cross into its territory without authorization after a series of Russian incursions into NATO airspace.

“We will most certainly take decisions to shoot down flying objects when they violate our territory and fly over Poland,” Tusk said on Monday. “There is no room for discussion here.”

His comments come as the United Nations Security Council gathers in New York Monday for an emergency meeting on Monday to discuss the latest breach in Estonia last week.

    2. Well, yeah… unauthorised aircraft probably should be shot down. This shouldn’t be seen as controversial. If Russia gets all pissy about it, perhaps NATO should start flying over Russian airspace.

This is the position we should have took long ago, make it clear we are not bluffing. We will shoot down Russian aircraft and any survivors will be arrested and tried as terrorists just as Russia did to Ukrainian pilots it abducted in the war in Donbass

The only thing a bully like Putin understands is power

They really should have a policy like Turkey, one warning, then start shooting once they are confirmed to be Russian war planes. That is the only way to stop them. Turkey did it once and it worked. Everyone else have issued warnings and done nothing and they still have repeated incursions. Pretty damn clear what the solution is.

    5. Well, the purpose of these incursions is nakedly clear. The clear message is that the US won’t respond. And it is a paper tiger under Trump’s leadership until Europe decides to steer its own path.

Do as Putin does. Shoot them down and then smile and deny. That’s what Turkey did, remember? Literally – take the wind out of his sails and put some doubt in his mind.

    6. Highly speculative, but if shooting them down leads to escalation, can Poland still trigger article 5?

I really hope Poland or the Baltics find the courage to shoot them down, because they are obviously trying to test the limits.

    7. This shouldn’t even be news.

If they want some deniability, they just need to conduct some live fire AA exercises.

What do you mean a Russian plane was shot down during our exercise in our own air space?

    8. Seems Russia is trying to provoke NATO into a response. But for what end? They are already stalled out in Ukraine. They want more enemies involved from different fronts?

‘Balloons’ have been shot down over the Canadian north. Shoot these Russians down already. (face palm).

    10. Threatens? For real? Just say and do it. You cross my borders, and I shut you down, got it?

The amount of pearl clutching going on around the actions of a diminutive klepto state and it’s mystic wizard bully leader is really astounding.

I’ll believe it, when they actually do it.. For being Europes Texas, Poland is being a bit too nice, to these intruders..

Türkiye did it and got away with it. These borders need to start being protected and any Russian interference taken seriously.
