Aren’t there already, like, rules banning ICE from wearing masks in general?

Look guys, I want this stuff to end too, but this is performative. The supremacy clause means Federal law supersedes State law. California can’t enforce anything on Federal agents.

Nice move. I was wondering what he was hinting at. That’s solid. Make an issue about their mask.

All for this but wondering who and how it will be enforced. Are state troopers and local police going to do this?

ICE is kidnapping people and deporting them illegally to concentration camps in foreign countries…also, who is going to enforce this legislation?

If they are legitimate law enforcement agents they have nothing to hide. They have warrants and are trained to read proper Miranda Rights.

      *Right?* /s

    7. Good thing we have a solid track record of holding law enforcement accountable when they break rules, so this won’t just be ignored.

Imagine thinking you can pass a law to tell the federal government what they can do. Loser lol.

But he wanted everyone to wear a mask in 2020, where’s the consistency Gavin

Literally everyone, regardless of politics, should be in favor of this.

Now ICE can have the courage of their convictions!

Big win for integrity and principles.

    12. He can ban police officers in California but I am not sure he can’t ban them on Federal ICE agents. This is headed for court and he Newsom will probably lose but score his political points which is all he is after.

So police officers don’t wear masks and have their names and badge numbers in plain view which is the way it should be.

When high risk arrests are made officers are usually all kitted up with extra armor, helmets and sometimes rifles. They also wear masks to protect their identity from reprisal. Is that unreasonable?

I’m not making an argument for or against ICE, I’m asking whether it is reasonable for these officers to protect their identity out of fear of reprisal for them or their families?

    13. I believe the law allows them to wear gas masks if they are necessary, so I think we’re going to see an uptick in random tear gas on the streets so that they can still cover their faces.
