Good. When many can’t buy their first home all second homes should be taxed at higher rates.

What’s stopping them from incorporating their houses and officially renting them out to themselves?

RI never saw a tax or a fee they didn’t like.

Good.
The states don’t inherently benefit for having these leeches „live“ there.
Tax them.

This always seemed like an easy first step in the housing issue to me. Residential properties that are not “primary residence” or are in the name of a business entity rather than individual should be subject to higher property tax rates. Obviously some details to hash out on it such as things like apartment complexes, but feels like a good start

How about we stop corporations from buying and renting homes next?

I really hate the „they spend so much money when they are here“ excuse. Yes, the amount seems staggering. However, when the amount the wealthy pay is compared to the middle class as a % of income, then you can see the inequity.

What about Hedge funds that own thousands of single occupancy homes? Is that still cool?

Don’t worry the Trumpican party will put a stop to it.

Good,
Now do the same for houses that are vacant 60% of the year.
If vacant for two plus years, surprise sales doesn’t sound too bad either.
