Ärmelkanal Patrol Boat Workers stimmen zum Streik ab

> Staff who work on patrol boats in the English Channel have voted for strike action in a dispute over allowances.

> The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) said more than 100 of its Border Force Maritime members voted by 99% in favour of industrial action.

> Fran Heathcote, PCS’s general secretary, said: „Our members have been waiting far too long for this situation to be resolved, with many of them having missed out on money over the last five years.“

I used to be pro-union until I had a union as a client, and saw the fat union bosses, how they talked about workers, how they shifted money out of reach of the state as if a foreign corporation, and the absolute monopoly they have making money off of ordinary people and faux moral high ground.

The bosses are making hundreds of thousands a year, completely unaccountable and unscrutinised, while deliberately pressing their countrymen where it hurts. Long gone are the union bosses fighting to stop 14 year olds dying of black lung in the mines – they now want to protect 25-hour a week civil service bureaucrats sat at a desk while the rest of the country suffers.

Another example of pressing the pain points of the country to shameless advantage. I empathise with the workers and want them to get a fair wage for difficult work, but for the union oligarchs to push for this at this moment specifically, is to *attack the country* and nothing else.

So if they go on strike, wouldn’t it be more unsafe for the illegals coming on small boats because no one will be there to save them in case their boat capsizes?

So, they won’t be escorting people to our shores for a while?

Er, how are they asking for more money when all we see if more boats coming across? If they’re not there to stop small boats crossing, what else are they doing on their patrols?
