There was (another) school shooting the same day. Minnesota lawmakers were recently murdered with virtually no comment. Our „premiere“ governmental health agency is moving to disrupt long-backrd vaccination schedules, endangering lives. Prices continue to punish consumers, unhelped by schizophrenic economic policies alienating other countries. A wannabe dictator is pushing to erode free speech and debate, and media conglomerates are far more concerned with their bottom lines than principled stands for broader imperatives. The same leader, who engages in the rhetoric of a senile despot, remains dismissive of strong suspicions about his proximity to child sex trafficking activities. He is being in knowingly aided by politically aligned legislators who obstruct and obfuscate and falsify.
But no, this resolution was suitably urgent. Another’s day work.

Not gonna lie, even for someone as bitter and disillusioned as me, it still hurts that 95 Democrats voted to honor the man who said I deserve to be beaten to death with rocks.

Fifty-eight Democrats opposed the resolution; another 38 voted present and 22 didn’t vote at all. (Only three Democrats had failed to vote on the measure taken up immediately prior to the Kirk resolution.)
The Congressional Black Caucus said in a statement after the vote that the resolution was “not about healing, lowering the temperature of our political discourse, or even ensuring the safety of members of Congress, staff, and Capitol personnel.”
“It is, unfortunately, an attempt to legitimize Kirk’s worldview — a worldview that includes ideas many Americans find racist, harmful, and fundamentally un-American,” the statement continued. Forty-two of the 58 Democratic opponents of the measure are CBC members.
Rep. Marc Veasey (D-Texas) introduced an alternative measure this week condemning political violence in general, citing Kirk’s murder and last year’s assassination attempts against President Donald Trump, as well as attacks targeting Democrats and the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. The measure garnered 118 cosponsors, all Democrats, as of Friday.
