      Article in the well-respected Economist indicates that instances of right-wing political violence are much higher than left-wing political violence over the last 30 years.

      Maybe somebody could politely ask the Republikan chairman of the FCC to remove his head from his ass?

      This is really so scary… We seem destined to fail democracy. I really don’t understand how the fuck we got here. I mean I’m aware of all the crap since the Regan era and well before trying to mess around. I know how we got here, but the human quotient that has wrought this mess by buying into the madness is mind-boggling.

      This is a very clear violation of the first amendment. Any other president in history would already be on trial.

      It will have to go to the Supreme Court. If they rule for Trump, that’s it’s for America. If somehow they grow a spine, we live to fight another day.

      This is what happens when weak fascists test their power. This is capitalism in decay. What we are witnessing is the lashing out of the dying system we live in. Today is the easiest day to organize and resist. Tomorrow will be harder, so will every following day.

      At this point, no US media outlet should be trusted. They are all propaganda mills run by bots. There is no real journalism left in the US and all media should be treated accordingly.

      Believe nothing of what you see from the US media, they are more corrupt than the government itself.

      So, how long until this administration starts to flex on Google to demonetize or remove left leaning YouTube channels from the platform? If that happens, we are truly in the end game as there will quite literally be no independent mainstream platforms where people can have an audience anymore. We will have to go back to Independent websites probably hosted offshore from the United States to prevent shutdown. That’s where we are.

      We’re not underestimating anything. The decent into an authoritarian regime is visable for all to see. Some people always ask you to „stop exaggerating“ – these people are no longer relevant.

      When Trump managed to (temporarily) get rid of Colbert, fire Comey’s daughter, fire every successful black woman he could etc. with no repercussions, it was obvious his appetite for vengeance for perceived wrongs against him will make him go all the way to a full dictatorship. He’s currently suing 2 newspapers for publishing the truth, and threatening other media. Look at Hungary and Russia to understand where this will end.

      Everyone with a functioning brain and a basic understanding of the First Amendment and civil liberties knows that this is very dangerous. Conservatives on the other hand, well, we all know what they are.

      In 2024 most Americans underestimated just how dangerous it was to elect a convicted criminal promising to rule the country as a dictator.

      Could have stopped the country from becoming a fascist dictatorship by spending a couple hours (or maybe 10 hours for Black Americans) on one day casting a ballot. But nope, saving democracy and the rule of law wasn’t worth that much effort to most people.

      Good luck getting Americans to now put in the months and years of effort to remove the fascist regime. The only catalyst that I can see motivating the vast majority of Americans to rise up would be an economic collapse worse than the Great Recession.

      What I don’t get is how these 2nd amendment people don’t care right now because it’s people on the left taking it…but won’t like this at all when Fox News has to start answering questions and right wing independents start getting banned because our new president doesn’t like them.

      Look, they’re already breaking tons of laws, invading communities with ICE and National Guard troops, defying courts and Congress every opportunity they get, disappearing people into internment camps or to other countries, *and* covering up a global sex trafficking honeypot operation involving a whole network of governments and power elites. OF COURSE they’re going to flex on casual dissenters and entertainers eventually.

      We’re deep into US fascism. It’ll probably be my turn soon enough for posting this. Then it’ll be your turn, too.

      Respond to those messages from Disney/Hulu/ESPN/HbO asking you to restart to your subscriptions. Make sure they know it’s because they are bowing down to faciasts and helping to erode the 1st Amendment.
