what does „in terms of Trumps margin of victory with that demographic“ mean

I see States with low population of white working-class/poor being blue, no?

    3. I wouldn’t be surprised if in the next few years NY becomes more red. The Dems in NY are horrible, and weak. Such as not catching Santos’ fraud before he was elected, that should have been an easy exposé for the Dems. Areas like Long Island, Staten Island and other parts of NYC are becoming increasingly conservative.

Wisconsin whites beating NJ and Virginia whites is huge. Good for them.

honestly i figured we (CA) would’ve been a lot closer to 0.0

a 12% margin is a bit surprising to me considering how the rural areas are a lot whiter and usually red compared to the coastlines (we don’t talk about huntington beach)

i would be interested in seeing if his approval in our rural areas got worse after demanding the water reserves get released months before they were actually needed

That’s at least 14 posts showing US maps in the last 48 hours.

When are you going to stop spamming this sub with this boring unoriginal crap?

It’s wild comparing this to state Human Development Index rankings. Every state on this map where Trump lost the white vote is in the top half by HDI and the only states outside the top 15 are Rhode Island (16) and Maine (22). It also includes the entire top four and eight of the top ten.

I’m certainly preaching to choir here on Reddit, but perhaps folks in red states may want to do some soul searching and figure out why life is so much better in the blue states….

As a white Mississippian who has voted for a democrat in every election since I was 18 (36 now), this is both disheartening and unsurprising.

It’s always fun to see that the states that need the most help are the ones that always vote to get destroyed the most

Just about every “how good is it to live here” dataviz is a damn close match to “how blue is it there”.

I don’t care about state level data if I cannot also see county-level

Da faq are we still taking about the 2024 election for? It’s like someone wants us to focus on the past so we don’t look at wtf they’re doing to us right now…

    13. For 4 years they were telling whites that they are predators persecuting POC. What else would you expect as a result of it?

There might be few bad apples belonging to white set but that doesnt make whole group all the same. Same like few bad apple in the store does not mean all apples are bad.

I just want to point out – that this data is often obfuscated and gives people a talk track of “oh racism or sexism is why they voted Trump”

I think the Democratic Party should try to actually evaluate why a major demographic is drawn towards Trump. Bernie sanders has a great take on this, but I personally recall the DNC platform having every race and gender except white men. And as a white man, it doesn’t exactly convince me to join a party when their messaging to me is “if you don’t join, you’re racist, you’re so privileged you don’t deserve to be in the conversation”.

Identity politics while important, is also avoiding problems most Americans face. Housing, medical, job market etc. <— I’m really hoping the democrats go back to basics and try to win over middle America instead of demonizing white men.

    15. I always wonder wouldn’t FPTP plus Electoral College make people not want to vote. Because even if you vote different, all state’s electors would all vote the winner.

Fun Fact: The Democratic Party has never won a majority of White voters nationwide since the Civil Rights Act

I’m guessing someone showed him this chart right before he decided he needed to send the national guard to DC
