      Barack Obama is calling out what he sees as “dangerous” hypocrisy from the White House.

      In a post on X, the 44th president slammed ABC’s decision to “indefinitely” cut Jimmy Kimmel Live! amid threats.

      “After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like,” Obama wrote.

      I mean I don’t remember seeing a President cheering for people to get fire and silent whoever he doesn’t like. Terrible timeline.

      Obama is right on this , but deserves some partial blame. His insistence on trying to build bridges with these right wing monsters instead of using his position/momentum to make more sweeping systemic changes was a massive missed opportunity

      McCain is to blame as well

      In his desperation to win , he turned to Palin as his VP candidate, which legitimized the nuts of the right wing. He opened the door for those monsters, now their whole party has been infected and it probably won’t go any time soon.

      I wouldn’t call this torches. Its just a strongly worded letter. 

      Plus Obama hasn’t maintained any semblance of fighting power or helped liberals in any causes that I’ve seen since hes left office. 

      He shows up at speeches and events sure but that’s not gonna cut it

      The right is wildly overplaying their hand. Americans will mostly ignore battles over who should be „cancelled“ so long as that battle occurs in the market space. Using the FCC to control broadcast content is a different thing entirely.       This, of course, assumes they’re concerned with governing based on popular approval. I increasingly get the feeling that ship has sailed.

      Someone help me understand what is exactly happening ; is Trump targeting shows that he doesn’t like and is having them cancelled or is this the network making business moves to avoid trumps attention? Because the View has been talking shit about him for years and they are also owned by I think ABC right ?

      The only torching of MAGA by Obama is the reverse used by them at their white supremacy. “protests”. They are doing exactly what that said we would, and getting away with it in the name of free speech and “hate crimes”. It’s wild to be in the middle of this.
