„Let’s be clear about what just happened: Jimmy Kimmel, a prominent late-night comedian, was just taken off the airwaves because the Trump administration didn’t like what he had to say — and threatened his employer until they shut him up.
The Trump administration, it appears, has learned to effectively weaponize the regulatory powers of the federal government to punish speech it doesn’t like from people it doesn’t like. This is a favored weapon of modern autocrats; its deployment against Kimmel is a qualitative escalation even above the administration’s previous acts of censorship (like targeting [the author of a pro-Palestine op-ed](https://www.vox.com/donald-trump/406199/ice-rumeysa-ozturk-tufts-logoff) for deportation).
What just happened, in short, shows how far down the authoritarian road the United States has traveled in just eight months.“

This is fascism.
Wake the fuck up.
Hey the FCC is a government organization that just fired a private employee. American politics all over this. In case anyone needed help knowing what is politics. Randomly throwing it out there. Government firing private citizens over speech is the defining political topic of our time. Refusing to let us speak about these politics would say a lot about what you would be willing to do next.
Seriously wondering if Kimmel has legal recourse to sue for wrongful termination for his first amendment rights being infringed on, or whether SAG-AFTRA can organize a strike.
Edit: Gave it some more thought based on a reply. From [this] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrongful_dismissal#United_States), it sounds like the probably is no legal recourse of the kind I was imagining, unless his contract specifically details that he cannot be terminated without cause.
I’m canceling my Disney+ sub.
This is the way.
The snowflakes on the right who hate ‚cancel culture‘ just cancelled someone they disagree with.
When President does it, it’s legal
Where’s Ezra Klein to tell us that Charlie Kirk was practicing politics the right way and actually this is cool?
Until today I knew the country was slipping toward fascism. Now I realize we’re already knee-deep in it.
Dark times ahead.
> At the time, the evidence suggested the shooter very likely was not a MAGA believer (and evidence released the next day showed that he almost certainly was on the political left).
LMAO what the actual fuck, Vox.
Actually, the “evidence” at best showed he was not politically engaged in any meaningful way— but at worst confirmed he most likely finds joy in trolling the “establishment “.
Outrageous! Boo to ABC, bunch of pussies.
I’ll keep saying it… Brian Kilmeade has a job after what he said on Fox News.
„*Nexstar, it should be noted, is currently attempting to purchase one of its major rivals for $6.2 billion — a merger that* [*would require express FCC approval*](https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/19/business/media/nexstar-tegna-deal.html).“
This says it all because this is exactly how Trump and his loyalists have been forcing corporate medias to bow down to their narratives.
Kimmel can’t speak truth and not even talk shit about Kirk but about how Maga is using his death. Meanwhile, congressmen and Fox News people are talking about killing homeless and trans people and are celebrated.
Boycott everything here
https://share.google/images/ABkjPonofj4EUwkn3
We know boycotts work, the right proved it
Boycott abc. Boycott Disney. Boycott Disney+. Boycott the parks. Boycott marvel. Boycott starwars. Boycott Hulu. Boycott espn. There was one company who did this, Disney.
His comment was so fucking benign. This is absolutely outrageous. What a bunch of petty, self righteous fucks.
Be outraged. And boycott Disney. They are the ones who needed to stand up for jimmy
Imagine president Joe Biden using the full power of the federal government, in coordination with a national broadcasting syndicate to force a Fox News show off the air because of something said about victims of political violence his administration deemed inaccurate or offensive.
The worst part of this is the fact that he said nothing negative about Kirk or alluded to the shooting as anything but horrible. Kimmel just pointed out those in the right using this and framing the killer as an attack from the left so they could justify their attacks in the left. He called out their hypocrisy is all he did.
ABC’s response should be to escalate and pull their affiliate agreement from the nexstar stations as a response. Without ABC, those stations aren’t shit. Everyone remembers a wackadoo channel from when they were a kid that was the worst channel in their area until the WB came along or UPN and turned it into a relevant channel. It was still crap but at least it had an affiliation. Stations without them aren’t real news stations.
Instead ABC gave up without a fight and that sucks
Remember when the POTUS (or his handlers) posted an AI generated meme of himself as the pope within two weeks of his passing?
Let’s be clear:
It doesn’t matter what Kimmel said. It only matters that he was silenced by the government.
This is literally the government infringing constitutional rights – exactly what the rules are for.
America has no right to lecture anyone about democracy anymore.
This is just another part of the „find out“ portion of people staying home or voting r.
America hasn’t suffered consequences like this before.
So…let’s see how mad Americans are in 2026, because that’s the next time, it’s going to make a difference.
Did everyone fucking forget Brian Kilmead saying the solution to the homeless problem should be “involuntary injection” and “just kill em”???? Tf is this blatant one side thing. *insert the Mugatu gif*
The guy on fox news was 100X worse and nothing happened
Notice how we’re not talking about Epstein 🤔
Maybe people in America don’t recognize whats going on, they don’t want to accept it, but the reality is, the Republican Party and Donald Trump are not doing this because they simply don’t recognize the hypocrisy given their years of complaining, or that they’ve been debating in good faith.
The power is the point, the ability to enforce blatant constrictions upon people is the point, **it’s a show of power.** Their accusations were always into a mirror. The real question Americans need to ask themselves now is how much they’re willing to sacrifice in order to defend the beliefs and values they claim to hold, because they don’t have free speech anymore.
You really fucked up this time America.
