„An asylum seeker who raped a woman in Hyde Park has been jailed for eight and a half years.
Abdelrahmen Adnan Abouelela, a married father of one, approached her in the central London park as she was walking home alone from a night out in November 2024.
He then lured his victim to a secluded spot where he raped her.
Because he was given a prison sentence of more than 12 months, he will be subject to an automatic deportation order.“
Disgusting, thankfully, for once, it seems he’ll be deported after his prison sentence.
Edit: As I found the term automatic deportation misleading, I retract my comment – likely his lawyers will profit from his crimes and argue he has right for indefinite leave to remain on human rights grounds. The immigration system in this country is beyond a joke – the BBC should have clarified this legal term for the layman:
„An automatic deportation order is a UK policy, primarily under the UK Borders Act 2007, that mandates the Home Secretary must make a deportation order for certain „foreign criminals“ unless specific exceptions apply, typically for human rights or refugee convention reasons“.

Just a brief note, I read the Green Party policy on migration last week:
> „Treat all migrants as if they are citizens“ … „The Green Party wants to see a world without borders, until this happens the Green Party will implement a fair and humane system of managed immigration where people can move if they wish to do so“.
According to that policy this guy would gain the same rights to live, work and vote in the UK as anyone in this thread.

Why on earth are we allowing these people just to roam around the country freely?!
It’s utter madness that politicians think this is a sensible thing to do.
Detain anyone that is in the country without permission, and keep them there until they have their application granted or they are deported, how is this not the standard way to handle this?!

Now if you are illegally in the UK and commit a crime I feel it acceptable to contract your imprisonment to a country like Rwanda. It’s bound to be cheaper for the taxpayer and entirely appropriate in terms of justice.

Yet another one.
We have enough problems from people born here, we don’t need to import more.

8.5 years for rape is surprisingly light for such a heinous crime.
