The US doesn’t need to participate. Denmark will relay any intel to Washington like the loyal spies they are.

This is good. It only makes sense to do some military exercises without the US, considering the statements (threats, really) that have been made.

The Danes were flying the prototype of the fighter version of the SR-71?
They’ve still got F-16s but they’re being phased out for F-35s.

The title itself is click-baity. Denmark didn’t invite Canada and Britain either (two other Arctic-facing countries). Plenty of other NATO countries weren’t invited (including mine), Spain, etc. The original [press release](https://www.forsvaret.dk/en/news/2025/soldater-ankommer-til-stor-ovelse-i-gronland/) from the Danish government made no mention of the US.

The US went to observe exercise in Belarus though.

Let’s be real: as long as the far right will be ruling washington there will be no help coming from washington.
Better to prepare alone.

You can’t beat the US military but you can station enough men to make US invasion opposed and the casualties in the general population the US has threatened multiple times in the recent past a shame filled episode of US history. It would of course mean a global reaction and the total isolation of the United States everywhere. Europe and Asia would turn away fully especially given that the US has urinated on every relationship, institution and agreement it has already.

Largest ever: 550 people
Seems a bit hyperbolic, (while probably still technically accurate in being the largest EVER) if you ask me.

550 people lol.
3 American ships can deploy 3500 marines and their own air force as a matter of routine.
They have three of these in the Atlantic alone.
We have a long long long way to go.

The Danes didn’t want to invite more US troops to Greenland in case they decided not to leave.
