    1. What happens if they take away your citizenship after you have renounced your previous one? Do you just end up stateless?

Meh, when the economy goes to shit I can always go back to Canada 🇨🇦🇨🇦🎉😂

Can finally play some fucking hockey again 🤩🤩

    3. Naturalization revocation can’t fucking possibly be legal when Japan requires you to give up your other citizenship. This is dumb as shit fascist nonsense.

It’s obvious they don’t think this has a chance of going through, and it’s not the point. It’s a populist signal, an attempt to gain popularity with certain demographics.

    5. This is good, or you end up needing deportations like in Denmark because we tried to, but didn’t restrict migration enough in the naive years.

A reasonable cap is okay, especially from „incompatible countries“…

    7. Nonono this is hilarious. As Japan’s population is dropping, setting a hard cap of foreigners as a % would necessarily mean kicking out more and more every year. How do you decide that? Oops jii-chan has died and there’s no one to replace him, guess we gotta kick out a uhhh Vietnamese software developer.

    8. >naturalization revocation system

Genuinely curious how they expect that to work, given Article 5 paragraph 1, item 5 requires one to renounce all other nationalities as part of naturalizing to Japan.

So, what? They expect to freely be able to make people literally stateless (something that is basically only reserved for literally terrorist)?

What about pe“d& Jonny and his whole company ? No major worries for those guys. Any of them in prison ? Nope

Isn’t that blatantly against international law? I mean I understand the cap on immigration with Japan being homogenous, but naturalization revocation? Seriously?

    11. Man, the comments on that post are fucking disgusting. Just reams and reams of barefaced racism.

They also apparently can’t tell the difference between tourists and residents. The number of residents has barely increased. Yet to them, apparently Osaka is overflowing with foreigners. Reverse their naturalization this, go for those with PR too that.

Maybe bring in visa quotas to limit the number of tourists? That might help to cool things down. There are too many tourists, I get that. But this is insane.
