I imagine the trademark is still controlled by ucp. Well it either is or it isn’t. Should be a simple question
It might not amount to anything but grandstanding, but I support it as a punch up to nose to the UCP as a statement that they don’t represent what the APC’s actually stood for and have largely alienated the urban base in Calgary & Edmonton that held the PC’s together.
The UCP is effectively just WRP 2.0 with the PC’s political infrastructure and if they’re not going to even attempt to woo over ex-PC voters, they don’t deserve to be associated with that name.
I’m all for it Alberta (and Federally) the conservative movement has been completely dominated by neoconservatism and it’s trending towards right wing populism, and other not so nice forms of conservatism.
So I’m for attempt by moderates, both types of Red Tories and any other conservatives to fight back against the UCP or CPC. At personal level I do think there is a place for more traditional Tory party in Canada and a lot of the provinces especially if we did away with FPTP.
So Smiths argument is people will be confused if there’s two conservative parties? And yet she was the leader of a major splinter conservative party herself not so long ago, and though it didn’t have conservative in the name you would have to be pretty stunned to not know they were a conservative party just like you’d have to be pretty stunned to not know the difference between the ucp and pc parties.
The ucp has strayed pretty far from the pc party, I don’t see why the PCs shouldn’t exist again
