Well we already have a family of military satellites called SKYNET, so why the hell not.
Given how reliably ai fucks things up, and the job of the military is to literally fuck things up, this might actually be a good way to use ai.
Believe it when I see it. MOD has a long and inglorious history of delivering this kind of procurement project many years late, way over budget and way under the imagined specs and performance, to the point of obsolescence on arrival.

Isreal already has ai systems that generate targets based on black-boxed maths so they can claim they only strike valid targets. I can only see this being the same.

I remember watching a debate about drones in which David Aaronovitch, on the side supporting drone warfare, was incredulous about claim that autonomous weapons were coming. I’m pretty sure he went as far as to call the other side conspiracy theorists.
