      By energy credits you mean give tax money to large corporations who don’t need it or deserve it.

      Maybe do something that might lower the cost of it.

      People spending a grand a month to rent a bedroom in a shared house, but sure, throw a 100 quid electricity credit to the plebs. That will sort the issue /s

      Give out the energy credits regardless and start a scheme for mini solar panels. Government run scheme. I’m actually worried myself about cost of winter coming in. Saving for s gaff it puts a dent in savings and I have to balance rent . Total fucking pox and I’m one of the lucky ones

      Invest it in infrastructure, cash back is only a short term one off benefit, infrastructure is for decades

    5. 2 x 700MW nuclear power plants (700mw being on the smaller side of power plants) would power our ~ 2.1 million households.

      Essentially carbon free.

    7. A huge proportion of our energy is used by Data centres. Slap a tax on their energy usage and use it to reduce everyone else’s bills.

      Could see them buckling to this one now. They said this was a 1 year measure so therefore not able to implement any kind of been means testing but here we are 3 years later.

    10. Just reduce the VAT on electricity to 0% from November until April. No need to complicate this, with extra payments…..

      You’re correct that CRU has a say to a point.
      Has any country does that idea of mandating above wholesale prices ? How are supply chain and logistics fluctuations accounted for in that fixed price? Or even what determines the wholesale price if different providers buy at different stages or use futures?
