Who is antifa though? Who are their leaders? How does the government identify them? Does this mean the government will drone strike protests with alleged antifa „members?“

    2. swiftfoot_hiker on

But not the actual group that stormed the capitol or the current groups calling for violence against the left. Got it…

The double standard is astounding and par for the course

    3. Yeah, good luck raiding Antifa headquarters, seizing the Antifa corporate bank accounts and rounding up the Antifa leadership.

      /s

More seriously though, if implemented it is just an end run around due process. *“We don’t like you, therefore you are a domestic terrorist and the normal rules do not apply.“*

    4. For 6 years I’ve been trying to figure out what they actually want people to think Antifa is or what it means.

Its clearly just a boogieman term to them, but hes literally accusing „fascists“ and „anti-fascists“ in the same sentence of being on the same side against his side, which he claims is… „not fascist.“

It just gets dumber and fucking dumber and the dumb people keep getting more angry at how dumb they are and how dumb the arguments are that support their feelings, and keep being more dumb about dumb stuff.

(Wanted to see if I could match their toddler logic by using as few adjectives as possible)

So how long until he declares democrats as a terrorist organization? Been seeing that pop up a lot on TikTok and it’s the craziest shit ever.

    6. Disastrous_Leg970 on

CNN should highlight what Trump says he has authority to do about terrorists. Trump justifies the extrajudicial bombing of boats off the coast of Venezuela by calling them “terrorists.” Trump justifies giving life sentences in foreign prisons to migrants without due process by calling them “terrorists.”

News outlets who give a voice to left-wing groups will be enabling terrorists. The Democratic Party will be designated a terrorist organization by the midterms.

ANTIFA isn’t a tangible thing, which means they will just label anyone calling Trump ANTIFA.  Also, last I checked, ALL Americans are anti-fascist by default. Not that the Right has appreciated this irony.

    8. And the Proud Boys are….what exactly? Seems like going after political opponents.

    9. AllUsernamesInUse_ on

How exactly do you label someone this? Being too critical of Trump? Expressing happiness when a right wing figure dies? I mean what’s the measurement here?

    10. He probably doesn’t even know what „anti-fa“ means or stands for. Probably sounds „ethnic“ to him so obviously he hate it

    11. PresentCheck9309 on

What incidences of violence is antifa responsible for?

So far the fascists have killed a bunch of cops on January 6, hit a girl with a car in Charlottesville, attempted to kidnap the Governor of Michigan, hit Paul Pelosi with a hammer, tried to burn down Governor Shapiro’s house, shot and killed two lawmakers in Minnesota.

Then you have white supremacists mass shooting in Buffalo and Jacksonville FL killing dozens of people.

Not to mention going back into history a bit,  threatening and bombing abortion clinics, the Oklahoma City bomber, all the KKK activities through our American history.

I mean this is not even close.

Someone is going to mention the Scales shooting, so yeah that is one.

    12. The US government calling antifa a terrorist group is saying the quiet part extremely loud. If you are against groups that are anit-fascist that makes you a fascist.

    13. What a fail of a headline. Can someone from CNN explain how „antifa“ is a left wing group or any kind of group?

Its just a thing conservatives call someone they don’t like. It’s like saying „woke“ is a left-wing group.

    14. Donald Trump wants to kill half the country because we hurt his feelings when we called him out for being a child rapist.

He wants to start a civil war to keep his dirty laundry from becoming even more public than it already is.

And the Right called *us* Snowflakes. . .

    15. jayfeather31 on

This is concerning as ANTIFA isn’t even an actual organization, given how decentralized the movement is. Quite frankly, this could, and probably would be easily used against anyone they deem as being left-wing.

    16. There it is. This is the tie in to the passport revocation legislation before Congress that targets „material support“ to „terrorist“ organizations. It gives the Executive the ability to make the determination that a citizen is part of, or has provided material support to, a terrorist organization and revoke the right to travel based on – however they’re feeling that day.

If you’re part of a political organization that doesn’t have Trump’s blessing you’re going to be in a „terrorist organization“. And you will have your passport revoked for it.

If you have contributed money to BLM or other political groups that Trump does not like you’re going to be accused of giving „material support“ to „terrorist“ organizations. And you will have you passport revoked for it.

If you have an account on a web site that is run by any of these organizations you will be accused of either being part of, or giving „material support“ to „terrorist“ organizations. And you will have you passport revoked for it.

      Here we go.

    17. Imagine being anti-fascism being a crime and not something to be proud of.

As Italian I have no words, not even the Italians who think „ooOooOoo Antifascist are violent“

Yeah, because Fascists were soooo nice with people.

      It’s easy:

      Fascism = poo

      Anti-fascism = normality

    18. So should they proactively storm the Capitol building to throw him off their scent so he figures they’re just an exuberant tour group?

    19. KyberKrystalParty on

Had to google antifa, but it’s literally just short for “anti-fascist.” How is that a bad thing?

Honestly, the right used to be so “pro-America,” anti communist, and all for democracy and freedom, but they have 100% lost the plot.

All I’ve done is work at my corporate BS job during Trumps failing economy, and somehow I’m getting deemed a domestic terrorist? This is absurd.

    20. rapidcreek409 on

They want to create a climate where all of the institutions (public and private) functionally make it impossible to be a Democrat or left-leaning and have any prominent position (e.g., the Washington Post firing a columnist for daring to bring up Charlie Kirk’s past), or put anyone on the left under suspicion and looked at as a possible “threat” where you can exclude people based on their political leaning.

I want to be wrong about this. This is a slow-moving car wreck and I don’t get the feeling most people understand how bad this can be. As awful as these first 8 months have been, there are deeper levels of Hell.

    21. Antifa, that pesky group of agitators that made all the MAGA people attack the Capitol on Jan 6? /s

Antifa isn’t even a group with a leader. Grasping at straws. Nothing wrong with groups like the Proud Boys and Oathkeepers of course.

    22. Life-Topic-7 on

Aren’t most people against facisim by default?

      ANTIFA isn’t an organization, it’s a concept.

Do conservatives actually believe that ANTIFA has like meetings and a headquarters? 😂

    23. „Anti-fascists are terrorists!“ said the Nazi-occupiers of France. History certainly does rhyme.

    24. MickTheBloodyPirate on

Right wing loons live in bizzaro world, everything they accuse the left of, *they* are the ones actually doing it.

There is fucking nobody fucking antifa, that’s bit a fucking thing that happens. But someone absolutely is funding all these right wing orgs.

    25. damnthistrafficjam on

Okey doke. Do let us know when you find the folks with Antifa ID on them!

    26. There’s a reason we don’t have „domestic terrorism“ as a legal category and this is precisely why.

      It’s too easy to politicize.

    27. QWEDSA159753 on

If anti fascists are labeled as terrorists by the government, what does that tell you about the government who labeled them?

    28. no_kids-and-3_money on

My National Guard unit was deployed to Trump’s Jan. 6 riot. I got to see the real “domestic terrorists” up close. And it wasn’t fucking Antifa. Unbelievable.
