I hope some day they will fly air defence missions over Ukraine. The heroes that keep Europe safe deserve better than the actual situation.
NATO should be enforcing a no fly zone over western Ukraine.
If these are super cheap drone incursions, maybe we can give them the v1 treatment, wreck them without using ammo.
NATO should use this as an opportunity to develop doctrine when dealing with low cost systems like drones.
Fighters are far more expensive to use and missiles cost several orders of magnitudes more. This current defense strategy is not cost effective and will put serious strain on the economic situation of many European countries and even the US.
The drones aren’t actively attacking so this can be an opportunity to develop low-cost systems to counter them. They can even borrow from Ukraine with what they’re doing with interceptor drones.
