      Sanchez is only in power thanks to the support of the far left. He is willing to sell himself and cater to the far left so that they don’t remove their support. He knows he is done in the next elections and that is why he is trying to avoid new elections at all cost.

      The protests at La Vuelta España were so dumb because they were insisting the race org kick out Israel PremierTech, but there’s only 1 Israeli on the whole firkin team, and the team itself is not funded, supported, or sanctioned by the government of Israel…

      I would note, as is utterly unsurprising, but there are no calls to ban Turkey, which has illegally occupied Cyprus for decades and ethnically cleansed Kurds from parts of Turkey and Syria.

      Sanchez has absolutely gone off the deep end this week.

      Pro-Palestine protests in Madrid disrupted the Vuelta a España, a globally famous sports event, to the point that a part of the race was cancelled entirely, and the response of the Spanish PM was to…compliment the protestors for disrupting the event.

      Whatever his opinion on Palestine is, it’s an insane stance to take for someone who is ultimately supposed to be representing his country and promoting its best interests.

      Why Israel? They didn’t invade a sovereign country. They didn’t even invade a territory. They were invaded and are now trying to squash the invaders to secure their people, as any nation should.

      I watched the Vuelta, and some moments stood out to me:

      – Stage 5 TTT, protestors block the path of team IPT (Israel Premier Tech) during their turn
      – Stage 20, a crowd decides to lie in the street seconds before the peloton arrives

      I don’t think the protesters really understand how fast these guys are going, possibly 60 km/h or more. Especially on stage 20, lying in the street is like asking to be run over by a bunch of vehicles, including the team cars behind the pack. It put their own lives as well as those of the riders in danger. Other stages were shortened or cancelled, and rightfully so. People could have gotten killed.

      I believe people should have the right to protest – there are problems with sportwashing and they have a right to be against it, but they shouldn’t do it in a way that puts people’s lives in danger.

      I call for Spain to be banned because of their genocidal atrocities in the 1570s.

      During the 16th century, the Spanish attacks on the Netherlands were marked by brutal repression and violence as Spain sought to crush the Dutch revolt against its rule. Under the leadership of the Duke of Alva, Spanish forces carried out mass executions, including the infamous „Council of Blood,“ which sentenced thousands to death. Cities like Antwerp, Naarden and Zutphen suffered horrific massacres, with civilians slaughtered, homes burned and entire communities devastated.

      And that’s not even getting into what they did in Latin America. Cultural devastation on an industrial scale? Hundreds of millions wiped out??

      I wish people would stop vacationing in Spain so they would fade into obscurity and no one would be subjected to their terrible opinions on anything anymore

      I think all sports should be free of politics in general. Banning athletes does absolutely nothing to stop any war. Plus if they used the same metric on every country so many nations would be banned because they all have rocky modern history. Just leave politics out of sports.
