Wir haben uns über ein Jahr von Spotifys Top -200 -Charts in 73 Ländern befasst, um zu verstehen, wo lokale Musik gedeiht und wo sie nicht ist. Indien führt mit 85% der Top -Tracks von inländischen Künstlern, gefolgt von der Türkei, Vietnam und Italien. Am anderen Ende zeigen Länder wie Costa Rica, Guatemala und El Salvador lokale Künstler in weniger als 1% ihrer besten Diagrammeinträge.

How did you pick which countries feature in the origin of artists list?
Where can I find the whole list?
It’s interesting how in the last 10 years in Finland, Finnish music has gained a lot of popularity, and in return English music has gone down hard. I don’t even know what the global top songs are right now.
I am surprised to not see more of UK in India’s list

Interestingly there’s South Korea, but there’s no Japan. I always knew weebs like myself were a part of the elite.
How did you accurately find out the country of origin of these artists? There are a lot of local charting artists (many times in multi-language country settings) with no wikipedia or external bio info that identifies their origin or local affiliation and Spotify API doesn’t show country origin.
I’m partly colourblind and therefore fucked
Bad Bunny (Puerto Rico) and Justin (Canada) skew this quite a bit it seems.
