Yeah that isn’t happening. This is because the economy is dying because of him. Report nothing has always been his way of cheating.

No reporting means no bad news about recession.

No covid testing means no covid cases.

We’ve never learned our lessons from this evil president.

    3. If you can’t fudge the numbers? Just hide the data

Ya know what would give people and corporations instant relief and make their earnings reports look better? Canceling the stupid fucking tariffs

His approval rating would probably jump too instantly

    4. lol the economic version of stop the count. This is the best the guardians of pedophiles can muster?

Because stumbling around in the dark is far more comforting than having a clear view of your surroundings.

    7. This is literally a requirement because of Enron. Of course he’s against it.

I don’t think investors are going to go along with that.

He needs to remember who owns his presidency.

Although if it would encourage longer term thinking in companies by having it semi annually?
But I guess they’d just use the time to hide losses better a la Enron.

    9. The double edged sword here is if the Trump economy continues to tank, the bad news will be worse when it hits later than sooner. He’s not saving anything, just delaying the inevitable.

“He’s good for the economy! He’s a businessman!” is the greatest lie ever told.

He apparently does not like the swings in the market when earnings are reported. LOL he keeps it so entertaining.

Holy shit are we cooked if this is what he’s advocating for.

So 3Q earnings are going to be shit and we need to not report until after Christmas. So much winning

      >“Did you ever hear the statement that, ‘China has a 50 to 100 year view on management of a company, whereas we run our companies on a quarterly basis??? Not good!!!’” Trump said.

I don’t think anyone heard that. Looks like Trump didn’t hear it either, because:

      >Despite Trump’s comments about China, companies there have reporting requirements that are similar to the U.S. if not more stringent. Chinese companies must file quarterly earnings reports as well as semiannual and annual reports.

      Sad.

Lmao, because he knows what’s coming.

Which is wild to me.  A smart person might change course to minimize the damage, but this dumb ass would rather try to obfuscate (and blatantly, I might add) the numbers when that’s a futile thing to do.  As we’ve seen, „ball don’t lie“.  People will absolutely feel the pain, whether corporate reporting happens quarterly or not.

Boss: „Why did you spend so much, and why did you schedule so much overtime when sales were down last week?“

Manager: „You really can’t focus on a single week as an indicator of how the business is going.“

Boss: „Okay, well why were costs high with low sales for the past four weeks?“

Manager: „Well, you really can’t look at a single month as an indicator of how the business is going.“

Boss: „It’s been like this for the past three months.“

Manager: „But if you look at the bigger picture, and not just a single quarter, you can get a better idea of how things are going.“

    17. CaptainAwesome06 on

Does he think that reporting quarterly means these companies aren’t paying attention to their finances on a monthly (or more often) basis? I’ve never worked somewhere that didn’t know what they were doing month to month. It sounds like he thinks Chinese companies aren’t paying attention to their finances until 50 years down the road.

Ah, yes. Because what we need now is LESS transparency from our corporate ‚benefactors.‘ Sheesh.

Lemme guess, Frank B got to him? Current head of SSA and former CEO of Fiserv named in investor lawsuit for lying about the true performance of the company.

So….if you stop releasing the company results, then the public and stockholders won’t know they’re bad…and…maybe I can get through the midterms before you realize how bad the economy is doing? (Cuz there’s no business reason to do this. Costs of this reporting are minuscule compared to income for most public companies)

    21. I still don’t understand how anyone in „business“ or business news still find credibility in these people.

The emperor has no clothes on.

How can you blindfold yourself to the truth because you want to fit in and/or believe in a political party to the detriment of your well-being?

Quarterly earnings reports are how companies stay compliant with federal tax law. It’s also how companies observe how they’re doing financially, giving them a bird’s eye view on the numbers and giving them a chance to course correct where needed.

Saying that you don’t need a quarterly earnings report is basically saying „everything is made up and nothing matters“, which is exactly what an idiot who’s gone bankrupt SIX TIMES would say.
