The original promise was 25 billion for prefabricated and modular homes. Why is only 13 billion being announced here? Not a good a sign if they’re starting off by literally halving the money they promised to allocate to housing.
> Carney said an initial $13 billion is earmarked to help fund the construction of 4,000 modular homes on six sites across the country. Construction of those 4,000 homes is expected to begin next year, according to a government official speaking on background.
Seems quite underwhelming starting with only 4,000 homes. You’d have to scale up really fast to build faster and double housing construction, as promised. I presume that the $13 billion isn’t entirely for building those few homes.
